Q: What are your Hours?
A: Our normal business hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We are by appointment only. Occasionally appointments can be scheduled outside of our regular business hours by request. Q: Do you only install kitchen and baths?
A: No, we can provide a design for and install cabinetry in every room of your home, from kitchens and baths, to mud rooms, laundry rooms, entertainment centers and home offices. Q: Do you only remodel kitchens and baths? I am building a new house and need a kitchen designed.
A: We work with many local builders and clients who are building a new home. Your first step would be to meet with Kimberly in our showroom as soon as you have your house plans. We would make copies of your plans, discuss the budget allowance for the kitchen and other rooms for which we would be supplying a design and cabinetry and get a sense of what you are looking for in your new design. From there, Kimberly would design at least one option to fit each space and provide an estimate. A final design would be determined and cabinetry would be ordered as soon as the framing is complete, plumbing is in place and field measurements are taken. Q: I want to remodel my kitchen, where do I begin?
A: The initial meeting would be in the comfort of your home with owner and designer, Kimberly Martin. We will interview you about your family size, lifestyle, and wishes for your newly designed space. You will discuss space planning and budget, your ideas on which spaces are to be altered, and the styles you are considering. Measurements will be taken of the existing space to be changed and all information taken will be noted. Kimberly will work on new design options, over approximately a 2-3 week period. The follow up meeting will be held in our showroom, where you can review your plans, receive and discuss and estimate for your project, make any necessary changes, begin to make selections and establish a schedule. Q: How long does the entire process take?
A: The design stage takes approximately 2-3 weeks. Each cabinet company has varied lead times that are given to us when your cabinetry is ordered, anywhere from 4-10 weeks for delivery. Countertops, appliances, plumbing and hardware are generally shipped within that time frame. The size and scope of your project determines how long it could take to install, depending on whether there is extensive remodeling and finished carpentry to be done prior to cabinet installation. For a small project, where just cabinetry and countertops are being replaced, installation could take approximately 1 week. However, a project that involves altering the structure, plumbing, electrical, drywall and flooring could extend an installation into a 4-6 week period. Q: What does the average kitchen cost?
A: The “average” kitchen remodel that we do at Custom Kitchens by Martin costs approximately $35,000-$75,000. The cost of today’s kitchens can vary as much as our lifestyles, space constraints and budgets. Q: Do you use your own general contractor?
A: Custom Kitchens by Martin is capable of giving you the full service of a general contractor. Most remodeling projects are well within our ability and experience. If there is a project too extensive for our staff, then we will be happy to recommend a contractor that could provide the services that you need. When there is considerable plumbing or electrical work that needs to be done, we will employ one of our reliable subcontractors to work with us to complete your project. Q: What if I am not ready to remodel just yet, but would like to see a plan and get an estimate?
A: We offer design services for $50/hr. The final design is then handed off to you to use as you wish. If you decide to purchase cabinets and have them installed by Custom Kitchens by Martin, the design fee will be waved. Q: Do you make your own cabinetry?
A: No, we are a dealer for Quakermaid, Tedd Wood and Kraftmaid cabinet companies. We can specify any level of customization that is required for your design. Our highly skilled carpenters can make any further modifications of necessary to bring to your space a beautiful, seamless look. Q: Do you refinish cabinetry?
A: No, due to past experience, we no longer refinish existing cabinetry. It has been proven that in most cases it was more cost effective to replace the existing cabinetry rather than to try to restore old cabinetry to its original state. |
